Elmira, N.Y. - There's no doubt a couple's wedding day is one of the most important days in their lives.But it can also turn out to be one of the most expensive.
Sunday the Elmira Country Club played host to the Finger Lakes Platinum Bridal Expo.During these hard economic times brides we spoke with say they're still spending big.But they're choosing to spend the bulk of their cash on what they say is most important like their photographer or having the perfect cake.
Rachel Keefer is planning her wedding.She said, “Yes, they're so expensive.There’s so much planning involved: The cake, the limo, the flowers, the dress, the bridesmaid dresses, the gifts, the parent’s gifts.
There just so much involved.”Expo organizer Sonja Harvey said, “They're prioritizing.They're deciding what's most important to them.We suggest to a bride to take her entire budget and take percentages for what's most important.”
Harvey says the prices of weddings vary for each couple.But they can regularly exceed $30,000 to $40,000.
